Jung, an Austrian artist, was a member of the Wiener Werkstätte, a community of artists and artisans who sought to merge fine and applied arts. Born in 1885 in Nikolsburg, Moravia, Jung was deeply influenced by the socio-political upheavals of his time, including the rise of industrialization and the tensions leading up to World War I.

"Bulldog," created in 1912, exemplifies Jung's unique blend of graphic design and fine art. The piece employs a stylized, almost abstract depiction of a bulldog, rendered with strong outlines and a limited color palette. This approach is reflective of Jung's philosophical commitment to simplicity and functionality, aligning with the broader Secessionist ethos of breaking away from traditional art forms to embrace modernity.

The artwork is emblematic of Jung's exploration of the relationship between humans and animals, using the bulldog as a symbol of strength and resilience. Through this piece, Jung conveys a sense of steadfastness in the face of societal change. "Bulldog" remains significant in the art world for its innovative style and is currently held in a private collection, a testament to its enduring appeal and influence.

Printed to order on canvas and set in a natural wood floater frame.
